Shocked. Not shocked.
I’m shocked, SHOCKED, to hear that the president lied to the American people. No… not shocked that he lied, he does that almost daily and often twice on Sundays. I’m shocked to HEAR him, on tape in his own voice, admit to it. Trumpies will say that he just “downplayed” the truth or exaggerated the facts, but the statements in the February/March recordings are a stark contrast to his public statements at the time.
He “didn’t want to cause a panic”? Bullshit. How many people died unnecessarily because he “downplayed” the situation? During the 2018-19 flu season, about 34,000 people died from influenza in the United States according to the CDC. We are fast approaching 200,000 dead from Covid and the year isn’t even over yet.
He “didn’t want to cause a panic”? Bullshit PART II – He didn’t want to cause a panic that would make him look bad. He’s been ginning up panic about Biden for weeks. He did pretty much the same thing 4 years ago, except last time it was Mexican immigrants.
What I’m really shocked about is that it’s caught on tape – with his knowledge! So Nixonesque. He’d been so careful not to get caught on tape about his attempts to bribe Ukrainians into interfering in our elections, not to mention all the “honey do” calls from Putin.
In a perfect world I would think that this would prompt citizens to ask “What else is he lying to us about?” But Trumpies don’t care. As long as they can keep their assault rifles and the stock market keeps going up (even if the economy is in the shitter and they don’t actually have much invested in the market), he’s their guy! Besides… He’s gonna build a wall!
