Trump?!

I find myself slack-jawed and still reeling in disbelief.

Have law enforcement and “white America” been given the green light for racial profiling?  Will stop-n-frisk be the new norm?  Do Latinos and Middle Easterners (Muslim or not) – US citizens or not – need to be concerned for their civil liberties?

I fear a spike in casualties, both civilian and military, in the war against terrorism.

I worry about our standing in the world, the continuation of NATO, the arousal of the sleeping bear.

Will members of the LGBT community lose some of rights they deserve and have worked so hard to get?

I’m concerned for the quality of the food I eat and the air I breathe given the talk of gutting agencies like the FDA and EPA.   Not to mention the blindness to the effects of climate change.

There will be no wall – this I believe.  And tax cuts for the rich combined with other proposed changes will result in trillion dollar deficits (again) – because trickle-down-economics doesn’t work, has never worked, and has always been a con by the rich trying to get richer.  It’s a scientific fact.

Things are much better for me now than 8 years ago. And 4 years ago.  I doubt I will be able to say the same 4 years from now.  That said, I don’t believe we are on the edge of a global meltdown or the next greatest recession since the Great Depression.  Things may not get better, but I don’t think the damage will be as bad as we may currently fear.

Unless that super volcano blows.  (Maybe I should visit Yellowstone to check on the status.)

I think I need more electrolytes.
