Last week was historic – the worst week for the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) EVER. It closed last Friday with the largest one week percentage drop in its history. The S&P Index didn’t fair well either. It had its worst week since 1933. Worse yet, all of that happened AFTER third quarter broker statements went out showing gut wrenching year-to-date declines for most investors. This week hasn’t been very reassuring either. While I generally agreed with his sentiment, I felt the need to clarify. (In other words, NOT enough said.) So I responded with the following:
You’re right about Obama.
But McCain is the drooler. I’m guessing Palin is a spitter.
If we’re going to have a woman that high up, I want one that swallows or munches carpet. You know… someone who can commit.

Some of you know that I’ve been jokingly obsessed about the possibility of a black hole destroying the earth since March of this year when an article appeared in The New York Times about the particle accelerator being built in Switzerland. (

Well, earlier this month they finally completed construction and turned the thing on. About 36 hours into the experiment – before ever colliding actual particles – the damn thing broke. Now, before you start muttering about $10 billion being pissed away… they can fix it. But it will take a few months.
My response to this news? “Faulty mechanical connection” MY ASS. I’m guessing a black hole ate a piece of the accelerator causing the damage.
Actually, they didn’t even get around to colliding particles because they were still callibrating the equipment. So they couldn’t have created a black hole. (So they SAY.)
Apparently our doom has been delayed. Stay tuned.
